Getting Real Work Done
Digital distraction in recent years is really becoming quite a (2 new emails) burden. We have the ability (twitter check) to hide from the real work when we are distracted by these constant (ping, calendar appointment) mini-jobs. The thousands of small jobs that we do all day (email) from answering email, to checking facebook (tagged in photo), to texting and countless other tasks make us feel like we’re getting work completed. But we’re really not. Those big (software update…dismiss for the one-hundredth time!) projects that we should be working on take (google thesaruas “dilegence“) painstaking focus, and silence. It’s impossible to (email) hide behind (text) the mini-work distractions when all you have to focus on is the project at hand.
Close the computer, turn off the cell phone, set a timer for one hour, and take out one sheet of paper and a pen. Get something done. Think. You cannot hide here. What can you accomplish in one hour?
